So I made it to week 3, in respects to my work I have shown huge improvement with line weight, perspective drawing and how I am starting to get certain techniques into my muscle memory. most recently I have been trying to understand how light bends when it hits a surface, I feel like I’m getting the hang of it but I still have a lot to learn in respects to making things like the horizen line accurate and looking correct. I started by using simple shapes to see how light would react with them then moved on and trying what I learned on a car. The drawing above was my first attempt I used a crude line drawing as a base as the line work wasn’t what I was focusing, I used cool grey markers for the different tones, starting with the darkest working to the lightest tones which in retrospect I think was the wrong order and I will work from light to dark in my next attempt. In my next drawing, I will also raise the horizon line as in this drawing it looks as if the horizon is in a desert or a flat plane of land when in fact it should be higher which gives the aspect that there are objects around the car such as trees or buildings. I will also plot where light spots will be like on the wheel arches, bonnet and A-pillar, this will mean that I can leave these spots white and not apply any marker to them making them look like they are shining. The help videos have been very useful in helping me understand how the light bounces off surfaces, I will continue to use them as a resource to learn from help me improve.
