I believe for a design to be truly beautiful it has to give the subconscious feeling of pleasure to look at, it must without any thought, create an opinion of loving and longing, but the more you look the more subtle things you see around the car which just reinforce your opinion on it. Successful design is having something simple look simply stunning, giving the audience that gut feeling of amazement, it must be satisfying to look at even if you know nothing about cars, each line should be perfect and work on its own, something with perfect balance between simplicity and fun. The stance should be bold and commanding, but inviting. A successful design must also work hand in hand with the brand identity of the company and fit seamlessly into their plethora of existing cars. There should be no visual confusion with the shapes and lines that make the car, one surface must mold into the next without any effort, the next key to a successful design is it working, it must work for its purpose without any forcing, its target audience should be so ingrained in its design that every need will have been thought out and given a solution. The design must also work in the world it lives and not be an eyesore for everyone around it. A design should be ambitious and strive to be the future but the trick is to not be too far into the future that it is seen as a gimmick, anyone can design a hover car but it takes real skill to design a hover car which would work in the everyday world but also be sustainable and relevant to the world we live in. If there aren’t any major benefits in making a design change then why cost the company you are working for money developing the new technology that in the long run will not have a benefit, that would be a bad design. Good design looks to sculpt how the future will look but not so much that it doesn’t work in the now. The design must be fun and most of all new so that it will inspire the next generation to make something beyond our dreams.
